12 Jan Burns Night 2016
With Burns Night fast approaching it is time to celebrate the life and legacy of Robert Burns!
Bagpipes, Haggis, Whisky, Tartan, Kilts, Singing & Poetry- what’s not to be loved about this celebration?
Here’s our list of essential must haves to hold your own Burns Supper-:
1. Bagpipes or Scottish Music
It is tradition for guests to be piped in to the celebration supper however if you are holding a smaller party why not play your favourite Scottish music for your guests.
Scotland is home to many talented Pipers including Spud the Piper– hailing from The Scottish Highlands (as does Director Siobhan and the inspiration behind the Siobhan Mackenzie brand) Spud has played around the world at Burns Suppers!
For excellent entertainment for your guests why not hire your local ceilidh band? The Siobhan Mackenzie team met Highland based Tweed Ceilidh Band at our Belladrum Catwalk Show in August and they come highly recommended!
2. Burns Supper
Haggis! (Meat or vegetarian options available from MacSween). Served with mashed potatoes, turnip and Whisky Sauce!
Enjoy a dram with the recital of famous Robbie Burns poems!
Whether you sport a touch of tartan or go for the full shebang the Siobhan Mackenzie team can certainly help you out. You’ll know we design kilts but did you know that we can go one step further and design you an unique personal tartan?
If you are getting Dressed to Kilt for Burns Supper then you are in the right place. A Siobhan Mackenzie Kilt outfit offers the WOW factor. Made in Scotland with love we combine stunning textiles & innovative design to re-invent the kilt into the 21st century.
Using a fusion of Harris Tweed and Tartan we have designed a Bespoke Kilt for BBC Presenter Ken Macdonald as he hosts a Burns Night Supper- he will look fantastic and we are really excited to have designed for Ken!
6. Auld Lang Syne
How else would you end a Burns Supper? The famous Robbie Burns classic.
